“Find It” deals with the design and creation of the geospatial database containing the geocoded Italian Consular Network, the maps of the consular districts –  built upon the ministerial decrees published in the Official Gazette – by developing and implementing the software library for the construction of a geographic search engine, which, starting from any point on the earth’s surface, informs the user about the corresponding country, administrative subdivision, nearest consular office and competent consular offices.

“Find It” has its natural application in the maintenance activities of the Consular Geographic System (SGC), database of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MAECI), allowing the verification of consular competence for the new localities and for the new postal codes, to guarantee a constant level of quality over time. Georeferencing all the localities and postal codes of the current SGC is another task of the SGC maintenance by leveraging the functions made available by the library to verify the congruence of the new points, with respect to the administrative unit and to the offices associated with the localities and postal codes to be updated.
